June 7th 2009 Wildlife Survey Ellistown. Ellistown Wildlife Group are undertaking a general wildlife survey comprising many areas within the village of Ellistown. If you wish to join us and help out at the survey, then please e-mail with your name and address to book onto this event. Places are limited, so first contact, first booked basis applies. Activity cost £4.

May 24th 2009 4pm Bug Walk – an introduction to bugs. Sunday May 24th 2009. Activity start 4pm.

To include a walk and talk on identifying common local bugs, and an introduction to using entomology surveying equipment. Participants will be able to use sweep nets, pootahs, beating trays. This activity is ideal for people who wish to learn the very basics in identifying many of our common creepy crawlies found on walks in the countryside.
Estimated activity duration 1 ½ hours. Activity cost £4. This is an adult only activity.

April - September 2009 Wildlife Surveys, most Sunday afternoons, within 15 mile radius of Ellistown, Nr Coalville.Come and join our group for a few hours and help us to survey and record local wildlife. All new particpants will be given a brief introduction to wildlife surveying and demonstrations in using our surveying kit. For more information, use our contacts page.

January 1st 2009 11am - 2pm - Ellistown New Year, New You Village Walk at Ellistown, nr Coalville. Walk of the Christmas excess and bring in the new year by exploring the pathway network around Ellistown and Ibstock. This guided walk will cover around 4miles along trails in the surrounding countryside. Friendly dogs welcome, no need too pre-book, turn up on the day. Meet outside the Wesleyan Reform Church, Whitehill Rd, Ellistown at 11am.

December 1st 2008 7pm - UK Coal and anti-incinerator meeting at Ellistown. This Monday meet to discuss the pending UK Coal application and recieve progress updates. Meeting held in conjunction with the bantheburn group. Meet at the Wesleyan Reform Church, Whitehill Rd, Ellistown at 7pm

November 16th 2008 10am - 3pm - Save the Sapling scheme at Asfordby nr Melton Mowbray. This sunday come and bring all your home grown saplings and either drop them off or help us plant them into our tree nursery. These saplings will them be transplanted to suitable woodland sites within the county. If you wish to plant the trees in our nursery please bring your own garden spades. The location to our nursery is at the Asfordby Allotments and Cemetery site, located off the Hoby Rd, Asfordby. Parking is available at the cemetery gates. This event does not require booking, turn up on the day.
